PRODUCTIONS
(unless otherwise stated Richard acted as producer, director, writer, cameraman, and editor)
He has just completed a 58:34 documentary titled "More than a BOX with windows". It follows the construction and design of Schluter Systems' (a company that makes tile installation products) new head office. It has become one of Québec's greenest industrial/commercial buildings to date and has been awarded LEED Gold certification. The documentary provides quite a good insight into how these technologies work as well as how tile is a good choice for sustainable energy efficient construction.
In 2007 he released "Building in HARMONY" It is about an innovative music centre that takes on an innovative green construction project. While poetically blending the music and the construction footage together, it also explores the technical, artistic, and logistical challenges of this undertaking.
The project itself won an award for sustainability from the OAQ (Ordre des architectes du Québec). In May, 2007 he was invited to present this film at the National Building Museum in Washington DC. It also played at Greenbuild Expo 2007 in Chicago.
In 2003 he released " Ghosts of GRIFFINTOWN", a one-hour documentary about a vibrant Montreal working-class Irish neighbourhood that after WWII gradually disappeared. It aired on CFCF and screened in many community settings. Over 400 video copies were sold along with over 600 coffee table books containing the many photos collected for this project. A new edition of " 20th Century Griffintown in Pictures" is now available.
In 1998, he produced a half dozen short pieces for Vision TV's magazine show SKYLIGHT.
In 1997 he, with Shanda Productions, released "The World at Our Feet" and "Le monde à nos pieds". It aired on CFCF and TéléQuébec. It took a look inside the 6th Lachine International Folklore Festival.
In 1981 he finished a 24 minute documentary film "Being Part of It All". It was about an intellectually handicapped couple's progression from institution to married life in their own apartment. It had distribution in Canada and the United States. It won a few awards and was selected for distribution in all NFB outlets.
Over the years he has produced/directed a number of educational/promotional video's:
• training VIA Rail employees about serving handicapped customers
• promoting the work of Citizen Advocacy
• country and line dance instruction
• cooking demo for FBI Foods
• fashion pieces for Louis Feraud, Arnold Brant, Harry Rosen
